Nov 2016 update

November 28, 2016 By Chari & Ellery

Last month I finally decided on a self-steering windvane to purchase for Arctic Loon. I chose the Toucana model by Cape Horn, which is Canadian made by Yves Gelinas in Quebec. Such an important piece of kit required an immense amount of research where I considered many factors including cost, reliability, durability, and added length to the boat. The Cape Horn won in many categories over other brands that I looked at including Hydrovane, Aries and Monitor just to name a few. The Cape Horn has the fewest number of moving parts, is incredibly reliable and also happened to be the most affordable of all the windvanes. I’m looking forward to delivery of the unit in January 2017!
